Communication

Picture
Definition: Teachers shall use knowledge of effective verbal, nonverbal and written communication techniques and the tools of information literacy to foster the use of inquiry, collaboration and supportive interactions.

Interpretation: Communication is an essential aspect of student learning and participation. Educators must use both verbal, written and nonverbal methods of implementing communicative skills in the classroom. Through communication, students will begin to let out creativity and engage in collaboration.

Application: I believe music education is a conversation as stated in the tenants for critical pedagogy. Students and teachers must be able to openly communicate with each other to ensure course knowledge is understood. Through communication, students engage in group activities and have the potential to be creative. I believe that communication is a necessary skill to prepare our students and by integrating communicative skills into my curriculum I will be able to help them grow as individuals and students.
